George Clinton and PFunk will be playing at the House of Blues tomorrow, February 19.

I don’t think I even have to write a description of this group, who are essentially the musical forefathers of everything cool from the last 30 years. But in case you are unfamiliar with the group:

Forget George Clinton’s rainbow hair and propensity for nudity. Forget the band’s perceived association with drug use. Forget that Garry “Diaperman” Shider actually does perform in a diaper.

Really, all you need to know is that George and his crew were cool before anyone else knew what cool was.

That they talked about issues of justice, poverty, class stratification, governmental responsibility and irresponsibility, and political polarization in a way that no other musician did before.

That they put on one of the best live shows you’ll ever see anywhere.

That you — as a human being with a soul — love funk. Even if you don’t know it yet.

Everyone loves funk.
